Spring 2011 Wellness Week NYC

The rainy first day of spring couldn't keep us away from opening Wellness Week at lululemon athletica Soho. Our first class, Gyrokinesis, taught by Master Trainers, Jennifer Daly and Chantal Deeble, helped us awaken our spines and spirits with arching and curling. Day 2's morning Hatha yoga class led by Michelle Barge, had one of our biggest turn outs. Poses were held a little longer to build strength and attention to detail corrected any bad habits that have been picked up along the way. We're glad those lululemon yogi's turned out! Wednesday's Thai massage class was a definite favorite thanks to the dimmed lights and calming guidance of Kevin Courtney's voice. Kevin talked us through the massage sequence and techniques while he shared some of his stories from his massage training days in Thailand. And while exercise is great for the body, we all need to find ways to keep our mind sharp too. Wellness Week's mediation class turned out to be all women. That didn't stop Paramatma Siri Sadhana, as she offered three meditations centered around healing the world we live in. Gilda Mulero, our Friday chef, made us some fresh juice (apples, carrots & cantaloupe) and smoothies (0% greek yogurt, strawberries, blueberries & flax seed) while we discussed the merits of eating a healthy breakfast. Our final wellness day ended with a cardio dance class led by Heather Seagraves. Warm ups, yoga stretches and strengthening exercises gave us our movement foundation so we could fly. The jumping and kicking across the length of the store was a fitting end of the full week of wellness!

Pravassa would like to extend a BIG thank you to lululemon athletica Soho as well as the dedicated wellness instructors who took time out of their busy mornings to share some much needed wellbeing with the NYC community.
